video delay (noob question)

Hello, I'm new to the forum and a noob for video.
I currently use Sony Movie Studio Platinum 9 and a Canon HF-S100 for recording.
I recorded a test clip and then rendered it as an AVI file. While playing back the clip in Windows player, the audio is ahead of the video. Could someone tell me what I did wrong?
Thanks in advance.

You undoubtedly rendered with the default AVI template, which is the wrong thing to do, because the video is ermm, uncompressed and the CPU is unable to keep up with playback.

Render to a compressed format, it doesn't have to be AVI, and the playback should stay in sync. Experiment!

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I'll give it a try.
Will it be better if I shoot in lower resolution? The final output will be 720x480 DV widescreen.

Shoot at your best resolution (in case you want to make a HD version later).
Set your project properties the same as your original (for best preview).
Render to the Widescreen DV-AVI template, as you indicated.
That's it!
