Video Delayed from Audio

I am running Vegas Studio the Platinum Version. The video is delayed from the audion. This happens inside Vegas, and in the rendering. My computer is 3gb duo core with 4gb of RAM

Why is it doing this? I am not happy. ALSO ... it seems if i want to make a DVD, the rendered file is so big, I wont even get close to 2 hours, or 1.5 hours for that much. This is even though the original file is not that big. The program I used previously, SHOWBIZ, before I so called upgraded to Vegas, did the above perfectly. If I cant find a solution, I will be going back to SHOWBIZ.

Any ideas?

I guess you haven't gone back to Showbiz yet..

and I'm not trying to be snarky (reference to your other thread).

Seriously though. What is the source of your video? Is audio delayed in the timeline or in the rendered output?

As for being too big, DVD Architect Studio had a Fit to Disc option to make your video fit on a single layer DVD. I've gone down to about 4 Kbps with good results.

A little more information about your video and what settings you're using is needed before a solution can be given.

Thank you for responding. Please forgive MY snarkiness and frustration.

The source of my video is a capture from an original recording done by a professional videographer. The audio is delayed in the timeline and the rendered output. When I view the same footage in other programs, there is no delay. That was my only reason for mentioning the other programs. They would allow me to edit and create a DVD with no problems. They just didnt have a feature that VMS did, so that's why I purchase it.

As to changing the bitrate in Architect, no matter what settings used, including Fit to Disc it says its to big.

Download MediaInfo and post all the details about the files you are working with.

Upload a short clip somewhere for others to see if they can reproduce the problem.

Right, need to know what type of video you're dealing with. AVI, MPEG, standard def or high def.

If the audio sync is consistent throughout the video, you could ungroup the audio from the video and move the audio as necessary to match it up.

I've rendered over 2-hours of video (AVI source) with DVD Architect so I'm not sure why you can't get it to fit.

Thank you both for your replies. I will do that. The main file is mpeg standard def.

The video / audio delay increases as the video plays. Weird.

My "fix" is I have to do as suggested. Unlink the audio and video. For some reason, after immediately bringing the video in to Vega, the audio is 2 seconds behind the video.

I am having the same problem importing mp4 videos with voice. How do your separate the video from the sound from within Sony Vegas? I can't find out how to do this if in fact it will solve the problem. Very frustrated right now.

Help!

Click on the clip on the timeline and press U to ungroup them. You can now slide the audio backwards or forwards to get the sync perfect. After you've got it lined up select both the audio & video and press G to group them back together.

Alternatively, instead of ungrouping & regrouping you can click the button that looks like a padlock to temporarily ignore grouping, then click it again to renable grouping afterwards.
