Video Device not listed in "Device:" menu

Hello All,
I've have a TI4200 video card that has S-video input. But when I try to capture video by hooking up my SVHS player to the S-video input, I get a message "please connect a device". The device is connected. When I go to "preferences" in order to select the TI4200 card, the card is not listed as an option.
Can anyone help me???

Hello,
I am a real newbie, so new that this is my first night doing a project, and I post a question about external monitor display. Part of my reply might help you.

"You must use the FIREWIRE out to view video. Firewire to deck, SVideo or RCA from deck or camera to TV. The video card has no value in this scenario. Vegas passes preview via firewire only."

Don't think the "video card" has much to do with capturing or deck controll.
