Video edges distorted

I have edited a video in sony vegas. it looks good when watched in there.
then I use "Make Movie" and choose DVD as a source... this seems to go through without any problems. When is as finished I say to send it to DVD architect. Which it does.
But now when I view it in there or make a DVD, edges of moving things like vehichles have like some distortion effect on them... like a ripple done the sides etc of the vehicle.

I can provide pics if needed but dont know who to post here. Also can provide some footage with it is needed.

can anyone suggest why this is doing this please

I have tried this on two different computers and get the same result.

Just to make sure I understand ...

a.) you produced a video file (MPG ?) and the ripple is NOT visible there ?
b.) you see the ripple in DVD Architect (preview ?)
c.) the ripple is still present after your produce your DVD ?

Cheers,
Andreas

it looks like a comb like effect on the edges of moving objects.
I used the default interlacing settings ( will have to go find where and what they are.)
I got my files (footage) from my Sony HD AVCHC HandyCam (HDR-SR7) which produces MTS file formats.
imported them into sony vegas. and when finished editing, used the Make Movie and used Burn it to DVD. I get a .mpg and a .ac3 file

The video looks ok with NO comb effect in Sony Vegas, then choose Sent to Architect. but once it has converted it and viewed in Architect there IS the comb like effect that also is seem on a dvd when produced.

Thanks heaps for your help

If it is a interlacing problem, can you explain what to change and where. Thanks

I think I have fixed the problem.. Just filling in info here in case someone else has the same problem.

After much searching and reading, in which I couldnt really find any info to help, I played around with settings.
I found ( in Sony Vegas) under Project and Properties, and in the Video tab, there is a field called Full-resolution rendering quality: that it was set to good. so I set it to best and re-did the video to dvd. This time there was no noticeable combing effects.
I also have the next field ( Deinterlace Method) set to Interpolate fields.

at this stage this seems to have fixed my problem.

thanks for any help given

1) Any time there is resizing, pan / crop, etc. either at the edit or render stage, your render quality must be set at Best. I leave mine set this way by default so I don't forget. Glad you were able to find this on your own.

2) I suggest you try Blend as your deinterlace method again. Interpolate throws away half your information, while Blend averages it. Unless you are sizing to half your source vertical resolution, Blend "should" get you best results. Individual mileage may vary.
