Video Editing with a LCD Panel verses a CRT monitor

Just got a ViewSonic VG175 View Panel. Mainly because I wanted to more closely match the brightness and contrast levels of a TV to get better results when doing my editing for my VCD's and SVCD's.

The difference in brightness and contrast is striking compared to a CRT monitor. The model I picked the brightness is about twice as bright as my older CRT monitor and with a 400-1 contrast very good color saturation. While I was worried about the LCD keeping up with motion in videos played back off the monitor it did fine.

I think what pushed me over the edge and decided to get one now was unlike CRT monitors that "cheat" when they give their screen size, a LCD monitor actually is what it says it is. So my new LCD 17 inch (measured diagonally 17.4) is just as big as my older 19 inch monitor.

I too just got a VG175 - installed it today. I am impressed (amazed, actually) with the clarity and brilliance of the text and the still images. Nice being able to rotate the screen to portrait mode and see more of a web page easily.

I'm glad to read that you don't have any problems with motion images as I haven't tried that yet today.

My only concern is that at the native resolution 1280 X 1004, the images while using VF are much smaller. Haven't tried the other non-native resolutions yet...
