video effects icons gone from clips, can't edit

I'm not even sure how to ask this question...on a clip, if you expand it you have 2 icons in the top right, you can click on the top box and edit the clips proportions or you can click on the cross or x I can't remember, below it to edit video effects. Both these icons are gone suddenly. What the hell did I do and how do I get them back? I tried opening a new project but no icons.

Try and enlarge the timeline using the + sign on the bottom slider and let us know if that works. Cin

View->Event Buttons

this worked, thanks. I just couldn't think of what this function was called. I thought I had activated all the view options one at a time but I guess I missed that one. It was making me crazy. I think if I leave my program open and my son jumps on the computer, he accidentally hits a button or two and disables something. Last time the enable snapping was disabled. I shall close my program if I'm leaving my chair!

True, you've got your icons back, but even without them you can still edit. Right-mouse-button click inside an event and a menu pops up giving you all the same functions that the icons would do plus a good deal more.

Rather than closing Vegas you might consider going to the Windows login screen instead. Press WindowKey-L and your desktop will change to the same login screen you normally see when you start windows. Click your name (and enter password if necessary) when you come back to return to your desktop in the same state in which you left it.
