Video Event FX is gone

I was letting a friend edit something in Vegas 5 and they somehow changed a setting so that when I go to View- Media Generator- then credit roll as soon as I drag credit roll into the time line the video event FX box that allows you to type in the titles shoots down into the tool bar where I can't open it or even find it.
I hope someone has an idea, I've been trying all afternoon and I'm thinking it's probably simple but... ..I can't figure it out.

Sounds like it's been moved off the screen. Try changing the screen resolution to a higher resolution, open the generated media box, moving it back to the main area of the screen, and then resizing back to the original screen resolution.

Worst case, hold down CTRL-SHIFT while starting Vegas and everything will be reset to the system defaults. Of course you'll then have to go back and change all preferences that you WANTED changed.
