I have Video Factory Version 1.0 which is less than satisfactory. I have tried the demo of Version 2.0 which seems to be much better. Someone recommended to me Ulead Video studio. Does anyone have experience with the Ulead product? How does it compare to VF 2.0?
Edatwilm,
I have VS 6 and have used it and VS 3,4,5 previously. Video Factory is much more capable and has almost no bugs. Everything works which is not the case with VS. My biggest problem with VS 6 was crashes. Everytime I scrolled right or left in the storyboard, I would get freezes (by the way, I have a Dell Dimension 4100, 866Mhz, 512 RAM, 70GB 7200 bps system, running Windows ME). I tried to get this addressed with their technicians but got no reply (sans and automated apology for taking too long). This didn't happen in VS 5. I liked VS 5 pretty well but it has limitations with sound control and a problem getting out of sync between video and audio with shows. VS is a storyboard editor but I think VS 6 has a timeline capability now too. However, overall, Video Factory 2.0c is far and away the better value. My strong recommendation is to go with Video Factory. Hope this helps.

I've been playing with various demo versions of Ulead Video Studio for years. I like the functionality but like many Ulead products, I find the user interface rather lacking.
What I like about SF products are the clean UI design. I think anyone can learn to use Video Factory pretty quickly by messing around with the program for a little while (if not, they can use VF excellent tutorials).
Edatwilm,
Last night I decided to play with VS 6 a little as your question got me curious. While looking at their web site, I spotted a 7.6mb update, downloaded and installed it. Seems to have cleared up some of the bugs. However, still doesn't compare to Video Factory. Video Studio 6 does have a DVD capability (add-on) that I use from time to time. However, ULEAD makes another product (MovieFactory) that is probably better to get for that function. You won't be disappointed with Video Factory as it is light years better than anything else in this price range.
