Video file types of final Cut Express

A customer has brought me 4 plus hours of movie film to be transferred to hard drive. He will edit in Final Cut Express. I recall trying to help a neighbor import some video from a hard drive based camcorder into FCE and that, unlike FCPro, there were a limited number of file formats that could be imported.

Can FCE import avi files as produced during video capture in Vegas? Any Suggestions?

FCE should import DV-AVI directly. I would send them a short test capture first.

Thanks musicvid, I've done this several times for the full Final Cut, but not the slimmed down version.

A friend of mine had an older Mac, and DV-AVI loaded just fine. That's what I'm basing my answer on. Hope it works for you.
