Cineform is free for playback on both Windows and Mac OS, and it's a very good intermediate format.

I shot it with an HD cam and he's wanting SD. I can resize it easily enough. But it's the codec that I don't know anything about since I don't use a Mac.

Cineform is an AVI codec. Hmm.. I've never used that.

Uncompressed works every time between PC and Mac, but of course it does take up space.

How much footage do you have?

Convert it to SD, print to tape and give it to him that way.
No codecs involved.
