Video FX

I've added an fx to a video track and when I go to preview nothing has changed. Not sure what I'm doing wrong any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I have to set key frames?

More information would help....various FX may or may not show up without keyframes. Are you applying at Track level or at Event level? What FX?

Depends on the filter. For example if you drag and drop the Color Corrector (not the presets) if you don't change anything nothing happends. You also got to be careful the filter ends up where you actually want it. You can drop in the header area, that effects the entire track. Drop over a event, only the event is effected. Drop on the preview window the entire project is effected.

I was using the old film effect on the entire track I also tried it on the preview but nothing happened.

I now noticed that the FX does not appear unless I do a preview which renders the movie. what I need is to be able to see the FX live without rendering the entire track.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but are ALL FX in Vegas previewable? Or are there some that can't be done on the fly?
