I capture footage shot from either my Hi8 analog or an older 8mm camcorder in one of two ways:
1) by first dubbing to my Digi8 camcorder, then, capturing the dubbed footage via firewire (this method seems to yield the most pleasing result in terms of color saturation, contrast, etc).
2) by capturing the analog footage via firewire, allowing my digi8 camcorder to do the conversion of the analog footage.
For reasons not germaine to this post, I have footage captured via method #2 which needs to co-exist in a project with footage shot using the Digi8 camcorder. The unflattering comparison of the analog footage to the digi footage is unavoidable in the final output.
I have used the HSL and Contrast/Brightness FX pluggins from SF to give the analog footage a lift, and it seems to help, but, I'm wondering if those are the correct/only FX adjustments I should consider.
What suggestions might some of you offer?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
