Video FX appear weaker in higher resolution

When I switch the preview to show the actual resolution of the video (and in addition, when I actually render it), the strenth of the Video FX is quite a bit weaker than what the preview was initially showing. Is there a reason for this? Is there a way to get the FX strength to the level of the preview's resolution? I'm using Vegas Movie Studio 14.

Which Video FX do you see this with and what is your usual Preview quality setting?

I'm currently working with Light Rays, and my Preview is set to Preview (Auto)

Hm, the non-full level in the Preview window is not, by definition, the full rendering.. so it's risky to judge effects that way. My workflow is to use the lower rendering levels for composition, flow, checking angles, panning etc, but effects and coloring are made on stills at best (Full) level, so I can see exactly how it looks.

If you need to see the effect of the FX on the scene a little "cinematically", you can always quick pre-render the small portion you need without doing a full bounce.
