Video Fx are not appearing in scenes

I just noticed this problem today. As I try to insert a video fx pulg-in, example shatter fx, the pop up boxes appear and I can custom make the changes but the effect is not appearing at all on the timeline. I try the same with every effect and I cannot get them to work in V4. Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

I'm using: winxp pro, dual monitor nvidia card with 64 meg, 1.0 gig ram, 1.2 gig amd chip.

Be sure you check-mark the boxes (on top) in your fx chain when the window's opened.
You can also verify the fx keys, see where these are; you really have to key your effect at the very beginning of the event if you want a whole clip fx'ed.

Boxes are checked for sure and I am aware about the effects being inserted at beginning of event. I dont know what to do next except to deinstall Vegas and reinstall. Any other suggestions guys? Please.

Have you got the split screen active in the preview window? If you have it might be set to show both halves with 'bypass FX' enabled.

De-installed and Re-installed v4.0 and things back to normal. Thanks for your help.
