video gets corrupted at random points

I was editing a video and added text above it, when I did that, the video became corrupted, the static parts of the frames were almost entirely black and the moving parts had a blue tint over them. I'm using Movie Studio 13.0 on Windows 10, the source video was fine and was an mp4 file recorded using OBS on the game Garry's Mod.

It's pretty likely your screen capture software created an MP4 that uses variable frame rate. (Most do, since it allows the software to more highly compress the video.)

Try converting the video to a Constant Frame Rate using the free download Handbrake and see if you get the same results.
