Video getting messed up when dropped into Vegas

Hello

i just got Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum about 4 days ago, i also got a hauppauge 1212 recorder so i could record my gameplay from my xbox and edit it. when i recorded with the hauppauge there were 3 settings i could use, M2TS, TS, or MP4. when i recorded with the M2TS format and dropped into vegas it became super glitchy with no audio, it wouldnt even play when i hit play it would skip around the video. When i recorded in the TS format the same thing happened but it was a little less laggy but it still didn't have sound and it would jump from place to place when i played it. "Note, i changed the preview quality and that didn't help." but when i recorded in the MP4 format on the Hauppauge and dropped it into vegas it worked perfectly but on the preview screen it was zoomed in to the top left corner of my screen. here is a link to see what i mean.
i would really appreciate if you could help me out and tell me if i need to change anything or if i need a new software.

Before you added your M2T file to Vegas, did you got to your Project Properties and ensure it was set up for AVCHD video?

Have you ensured that your original video is no larger than 1920x1080?

i don't know how to ensure that the project is set up for AVCHD and the original file was set to 1280 x 720. I recorded at a constant bit rate or 11 Mbps and when i dropped it in right now it would freeze up Vegas and say it was not responding

Under the Project menu, open Properties.

Or, when you start a new project, start it by selecting Project/New rather than just starting with a blank project. This will open up a screen in which you can set up your project for specific source video.

Remember, the closer your project properties match your source video, the more efficient the program will operate and the higher quality your end results.

even when i tried those settings and i put the clip into the timeline it made Sony Vegas crash. every time i opened it back up and placed any M2TS file in the timeline it would crash and say not responding.

Do a search for "Hauppauge" on this forum.
Short answer: You will probably need to run it through "Quickstream Fix" in VideoRedo h264 edition before import into Vegas.

thanks. i downloaded the program and when i imported the M2TS video into the program and hit quick stream fix i did that, then i dropped it into Vegas, the sound was perfect but the video was super laggy. when i did the Mp4 video into the quick stream fix and then dropped it into Vegas the sound worked but the video was all green. do you have any suggestions on what to d?o

Well, you haven't posted your system specs, but full avchd preview is a crapshoot except with the fastest CPUs. You should match your project properties to your media (this is a specific procedure), and lower your preview resolution if necessary. Or you can render an "intermediate" (do a search).

i am runnning on windows 7 home premium. Intel(R) Core(TM) I3-2330M CPU @ 2.20 GHz 2.20 GHz. Ram size is 4.00 GB. and it is a 64 bit operating system. the graphics card is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

In addition to those suggestions, try turning off "Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback."
