The more you add, the more work Vegas has to do to generate the preview frames. Your computer apparently isn't fast enough to keep up full speed for what you are doing.

You can select small sections of your timeline and press Shift-B to do a RAM prerender. This section will then play at full speed no matter how much you've added, at least until the next time you change something in that section.

Here is my system info. Haven;t had this problem before.

AMD Phenom II X4 B50 Processor 3.52 GHz
16 Gig Ram
64 Bit System
Windows 7 Ultimate
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Maybe this may help to solve the problem.

You might want to try changing your preview to Good-Half or Good-Full or even Draft-Full. That might give you a better preview.

I edit on a laptop and recently upgraded to a newer, more powerful laptop. The stuff that would kill my faithful old 32-bit laptop runs smooth as silk on my new 64-bit laptop. Not sure if that is applicable to your situation, but fiddling around with the preview may help.
