Video import sped up, stops and speeds up again.

Grant-Shelsher wrote on 9/4/2020, 6:34 AM

I'm importing videos from Microsoft Onedrive (From Xbox) to Movie Studio but in the preview the footage is sped up, stops and speeds back up and does this for the duration of the video. I've had a look around and can't seem to find a solution, even messed around with my settings thinking me be due to some frame rate issue. I've had this problem since Movie Studio 16 and thinking upgrading might fix the problem... I was wrong. I'm still fairly new at using Vegas MS.

Using Movie Studio 17 on a Medion Laptop.

Most likely it's related to whatever codec and frame rate your Xbox video is using. Open your Xbox file in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the text of this report and paste it to this forum. Once we see the detailed specs of your video we'll better be able to advise you how to proceed.

Still having problems and tried a bit more researching.

Stop it, your video has variable framerate mode.
Vegas can overcom a litle, but yours is from 1-60 frames, too much.

So how do I fix this?

Grant-Shelsher wrote on 9/7/2020, 11:48 AM

Okay I've managed to fix it. Basically turn off HDMI and HDR on my TV and Xbox. Made another clip, put it through the file reader and it's still varible (Nothing I can do without converting) but all says 29.970fps. Just need to know how to keep this 30fps but have decent quality

j-v wrote on 9/7/2020, 12:25 PM

Use Handbrake to convert to constant framerate.
