Not sure what you mean by "input rate." Vegas is a very flexible tool that can work with many different kinds of video files.

Probably the most common kind of video file format is the one called "DV." The data rate for the VidCap program (the program that transfers video from a camcorder to hard disk) is about 4MB/sec, or about 13GB/hr.

Thanks that gives me a general info. It was a questoin I got from a friend who is into commerical video.
