Video Mic w/ Mixer Not Working

Well I took the advice and purchased a Rode Video Mic, I am pleased with the performance of the mic when using it with my camera, but have run into some problems when using it with a mixer.

I have a Mackie DFX 6 mixer and I get absoluttely no sound from the mic. I have made sure the mic is on with a new battery and I am plugging in to the XLR mic input with the appropriate connects to 1/8.

Has anybody else ever used this mic for a similar purpose? May there be a problem with the mic? I have confirmed that the mixer is working properlly with two other mics.

Thanks,
Chad

What are the 'appropriate connects to 1/8"?
Rode do make an adaptor for this purpose, nothing complex or expensive, just wires. Bear in mind that this mic is hot on tip and ring, gnd on sleeve.

Thanks for the response. Rode tech support told me to go to Radio Shack... but what I bought is not helping. I still could have the wrong configuration... but theres only a few to choose from.

Thanks

Well clearly it has to be capable of working, Rode sell the simple adaptors so you can use the mic with camera like the PD170 into the XLR balanced inputs.
Do you have a multimeter and soldering iron?

One other thing though, is your mixer sending phantom power to the mic, pretty certain a) that Rode mic doesn't use it and b) you might cause it grief if you do feed it phantom power.

There are a couple of ways to get from 1/8 to XLR via radio shack - are you using a barrel-type impedence converter to go from XLR to 1/4", then a common adapter to go from 1/4" to 1/8"? If so, I don't know if you need to or should be changing the impedence of the Rode mic. The other way to do it is a mic cable wired XLR on one end to 1/4" on the other with no impedence change, and then from 1/4" to 1/8".
