Video Monitor Output

I've just built a new super-duper 3 GHz Intel PC with loads of memory, top-notch video card (ATI Radeon 9800 256MB), running Win XP Pro. I've ditched my Pinnacle Pro-One card, along with Premiere 6.5. I'm looking forward to becoming proficient in Vegas Video 4.0 (+DVD).

As I now don't have a DV card for video capture and processing, I'm not sure how to get analog video monitor output. Do I need something like Datavideo's or Canopus's external breakout and A/D conversion box.

Recommendations, suggestions?

Thanks much.

Mark,
Iuse my Sony DV deck as the "router" to an external TV monitor. I have friends who use their DV camera to do the same thing (short term) and others have used a Canopus ADVC 100. Realistically, all you need is a firewire source that can be used as a pass thru-sort of like the "E to E" function of a Beta SP deck... hope that helps

I think the Canopus unit also allows you to add set-up to the analog output as well which would be an advantage to just going through some DV decks like Sonys which do not add setup. JVC does from what I've heard. This of course is only if your using NTSC.
