Video Monitor Stand

Here's a time saving piece of equipment I've stumbled across.

I needed a stand to place a video monitor that I could move around the studio, take on locations, etc. Of all things, I found a cool "Karaoke" monitor stand that works beautifully. It has a six leg base with locking wheels, height adjustment, monitor tilt adjustment and does a pretty good job of supporting the monitor securely. Raising the monitor to near eye level is a real help for us older guys.

It ships with mic holders and a cute little "drink" shelf that you simply don't need to attach. It's lightweight metal, painted jet black and rolls smoothly on any hard or carpeted flat surface. Looks good too!

They're available from any sound/karaoke equipment supplier.

Thought I'd pass it along.

Smiles!

Sounds handy, how much are they and what are they called (a specific term maybe?) if I wanted to do a Google for one (I've never even seen a sound/karaoke equipment supplier)?

Brilliant idea, I think I'd have to do some tweaking to secure both of mine on one as I have two Sony 5 inch monitors but I think a bungie would do the trick.

Great tip !

I picked mine up from ProSound & Stage Lighting (www.pssl.com). Do a search for "karaoke monitor stand". Most any of this type of company should have them, perhaps at a lower price. I've done a good bit of business with PSSL over the years for various products and always had a good experience.

You can use this plate, screwed under a 3/4 plywood that has the dimensions of your monitor. 1/4 rounders of wood nailed around to keep the monitor on the plate, along with a bungee going around. You simply use a light stand, or gobo stand to hold it / adjust it the height you want on the set, usually eye-level or just over the cam so you can alternate between cam viewfinder and monitor easily.
This is just one more option and probalby around the same price as buying the karaoke monitor stand if you include the light stand (Manfrotto, Mole, Arri, whatever brand...). But, hey, if you already got this stand, the plate is just 36 bucks... ;)
