This Q is right up Spot's alley and anyone else who does remote live recording...I am being asked to video a concert by a local band. They have a local studio that they work with on demos and such, but if they don't or can't use them then I may also be asked to record the multitrack audio which I would rather not do, but I do have some exp. with it.

My question is, the equipment I will have available to do this is a 5+ year old Layla - I think it was Event at the time - and a 2 year old Layla, definitely Echo. Will I be able to sync those two units together under Vegas for 16 track recording?

Part two of the question - If I want to test this setup at home in Vegas, do I need to feed all 16 tracks with signal or can I just have the devices online and record 16 empty channels? I want to do this to test my hard drives and PC before committing to the event.
