Video Noise

Now that I have managed to transfer DV and HDV into my computer, the night video shot with Sony HVR A1U has lot of noise( not unexpected). I am looking for some tools to reduce the same. Two gave come to attention: Neat video, but only available for Vegas 32 bit. And Denoise by Red Giant.

Any one have experience with these tools. Any other suggestions. Thanks

neatvideo is for vegas 32 and vegas 64.

by far, the best in my tests.

I use Neat Video, but DO use the fine adjustments. It's one of those things that works so well at first glance it's easy to overdo (and IMO the defaults are overdo). Some of the footage I did early on, I'd redo with the noise reduction dialed back quite a bit. And the three-band sharpening tool is worth spending time with also.

Another vote for NeatVideo, which I've used in its 64-bit flavor for a long time. I've been astonished at how well it salvages noisy video (Canon XH-A1, dim light --> dancing pixels). It's REAL easy to bumble one's way through the default settings, only to get footage that's over-corrected; people and objects look plastic. NeatVideo has a collection of excellent video tutorials for sharpening your skills.

i also tested DE:noise, and still, neatvideo is way better.

but its needed to make a proper camera profile for good results. on the site there is a "target" that you print, record, and use as profile. great results.

then i create templates on vegas, "very low", "low, "mid", "high", so i use a pre-configured template to speed usage. very very good.

when im not sure with "intensity" to use, i render to a new track with a "mid" configuration, and reduce the event level to mix with the original, and reach the desired level of "cleaning" ;)

latest versions are way faster, old ones where very slow. i only used on important parts on the video. now i can do a "light" cleaning on most of it.
