Video not showing in preview - trial version

george-tyler wrote on 1/4/2023, 3:03 PM

Hi there,

I have started using Sony Vegas trial after many years away. I downloaded the trial and it opens fine.

However the video doesn't play in the preview screen, just the audio. I even used just a media generator solid colour block, which didn't show either, so i could rule out it was the video file.

Tracks are not muted or soloed. I tried resetting as described in another thread but that's not solved the issue. Any recommendations?

Specs are:

16gb ram

Processor: AMD Ryzen5 5500U

Radeon Graphics

64 bit

Update: I went to options - preferences - file I/O and ticked 'enable legacy AVC decoding' and all is working fine now

Sony Vegas is versions 4 through 13. What version are you using?

Use Media Info on the files and tell us what type of files they are.

Please try and find any Sony branding on Vegas Pro 20's webpage - you won't find any because Sony has not been involved with Vegas Pro since version 13 - as you were advised earlier in this thread.

If by chance you downloaded Vegas Pro 20 from a website saying that it is Sony Vegas Pro 20, then that will be a pirate website offering or selling a stolen version of Vegas Pro 20.

It's advertising on the product page 33% off during the holiday season, Vegas 20. On my computer it shows as Vegas Pro 20.0

edit: ok so it's not Sony :) But its version 20.0....
