Video "Off-line" or Gone.

Never had anything like this before. Opened a couple of recent projects and despite all the project files being where they should be all the video is marked "off-line" yet the audio track is there? To investigate I started a new project and captured some new video only to find when i put the newly captured video into a new project the audio track was there but again no video. The *.avi file I captured like the files in the other recent projects are OK because they can be viewed in a video player. ALSO older projects open in Vegas just fine.

A confused Michael

Did you by chance do a "Save Project As" and copied the media? This will split the audio and video, but that too, should still show the media.
Did you perchance delete a codec? Or install new software that corrupted a codec reader?

I recently had the very same thing happen to me. The clip was still visible in the time line, but on the face of the clip were the words (video off line). No changes at all in my system. The clip would play back ok. JM
