video on DVD ram..VRO file. how to..

hi guys, i got a question..

lets say i record video on my set top dvd ram recorder. i want to take that video file and work with it on my computer. i want to be able to clip unwanted stuff like commercials from the beginning and end of the recording, then make a new file witout having to reencode it, since its already mpg2. i should mention that the audio format is AC3.

then i can take the cut file and make a DVD-R on the computer, and make my menus and chapter points.

i'm trying to use the MPG tools that come with TMPGEnc to trim the file, but it seems that TMPGEnc is getting bogged down with the AC3 audio.

can anyone suggest some tools that will let me work with a VRO file with AC3, cut and merge as i like, then make a new file without having to reencode again?

thanks i advance.

No, but if I would bet if you go to the DVDRHelp.com web site and post there you will find people who are already doing this. It also has a great listing of tools for manipulating everything DVD. Also Digital-Digest has a forum with similar requests like in this thread. I got all this info from quick Google search on “join mpeg2”.

jr,
just wanted to clarify something..
i can import my vro file to the hd, demux in tmpgenc, convert the AC3 to mp2, and remultiplex it in tmpgenc.
the problem is with the scrubber in tmpgenc. if i try to trim the mpg2 file without any audio, there is no problem. but if there is audio multiplexed with the video, the scrubber goes very slow, and hangs up. this happens no matter what the audio format is.

tonight i'll try using ulead MF2, import the compliant mpg2 video, import the audio as a wave, and see if i can trim the beginning and end, WITHOUT the program reencoding the video.

anyway, just wanted to be more specific on the problem i'm having. i always get good help on this forum thanks to you and many other folks.

regards,
