I have one powerfull Dual Xeon 3.2 gig Dell with 2 gig Ram, all SCSI Hard drives its a smokin system and my Video Toaster VT3 works like a charm in it, but vegas play back from the time line starts to studder and look bad, now its only a preview, but only 2 video tracks and 2 or 3 audio tracks, This should not happen. any one have any sugresstions. I have used vegas since 2,0 version and 5 seems to be giving me troubble.

What size and quality is the Vegas monitor set to?
This can have a big impact, try setting it to preview and native or half frame size.
Also other things that need updating in real time can have a big impact, scopes being a big culprit I've found.
During FXs it's hard to get RT playback, prerending or RAM rendering is the answer.
Also if your audio tracks are not at project bit depth and sample rate will also have an impact. If they're causing you grief I always render these to 16/48 first.
I have a significantly less powerful system and can get RT playback, that's with no FXs or transitions and a few audio tracks, you should be able to do much better with your kit.

You know its the audio, i have it set at 48 and most is at 44 and there are alot of volume and pan handels. some of the video has color corection or brightness and contrast, but not enught to get poor playback.
Is the way i am setting up the projects to begin with.
Thanks
