You haven't set the right "Project Properties". Vegas requires that you know what kind of source footage you got, and you must reflect that fact on the project properties. Then, it will use the right resizing algorithms when required, instead of using the wrong ones.

Sorry, I'm all honked up here! When I start a new project it asks me if I want to make my project settings match this media file. When I attempt to check the box it sends me to another window which asks me what file I want to open. This doesn't make sense?

Sorry about that, I see the error of my ways. Project Properties indicates "good", therefore, the Preview Window should also be set to "good" ... duh!

Actually, no. That "good" quality in the Project Properties dialog is about the exporting quality. To have fast preview on the preview window, your best bet is "Preview (Auto).

Just make sure the project properties are correct regarding frame rate, resolution etc.

I found Preview (Auto) is a little bit too soft on external monitor. Preview (Full) looks crisper.
