video preview does not appear

Help! I just got Studio 9 for Christmas. I had used Windows Movie Maker in the past and was crawling along with this new system. I had about one minute of photos and text editted and all of a sudden my video preview only shows a black box. I must have pressed a button but I am unable to restore video preview even though all of the photographs and text remain in the project. How do I restore the video preview?

View->Windows Layouts->Load Default Layout

Try that. If it does not work, no charge.
;?)

View->Windows Layouts->Load Default Layout
When I open View, I don't see anything concerning WIndows Layout or Load Default Layout. I see the following:
too bar
status bar
focus to track
explorer
trimer
etc.
There is no windows layout or load default layout.
I put those words in the Index and Help and no luck.

Oh,
Post your question on the Vegas Movie Studio forum.
You are on the Pro forum, which is for a different application than you have.

I'm having the same issue in Vegas Pro 8.oc ???
It happened after upgrading from 7.0. I have not uninstalled\reinstalled yet thought I'd inquire first.

Any Ideas guys ?

Some possibilities ...

Track Muted?
Track Opacity Slider zeroed?
Other track Soloed?
Video Bus set to 0% inadvertently?

Peter,

See here: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=631186&Replies=33

In this case, it was actually the compositing mode chosen that was the main cause of the problem.
