Video Preview on External Monitor showing a black screen

Jakov wrote on 12/16/2022, 1:37 PM

I'm on the latest update of Vegas 20 and while editing I try to have the preview on a second monitor to get a better look aty my work but everytime i click on the external monitor, it shows a black screen on that monitor and when i click on that monitor to see if i can do anything about it, Vegas becomes "Not Responding" and crashes out on me. Any ideas on how to fix this and get my second monitor preview back? I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything

Update GPU driver? Use the driver update utility in the VEGAS help menu.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Sadly the driver Update does not work as the links are wrong and wil be fixed in the next update. So guess need to check the GPU WEB site for an update

Are both monitors the same and what are they connected into.. VGA. DVI, Playport, etc

If Nvidia GPU, you want Studio drivers. If AMD, Enterprise Pro drivers.

No, they're both different models. The second monitor is connected via hdmi.

If Nvidia GPU, you want Studio drivers. If AMD, Enterprise Pro drivers.

I was using both Studio and Game Ready drivers to see if that would fix it but it did not change anything
