Video Preview Window: Settings

Ok, I guess it really pays some days to fully play with all the settings under Vegas. I recently bought a Canon HV20 and was never too thrilled by how the playback looked in Vegas' Video Preview Window. Well, I got to playing around the preview window settings and came to discover just how good the HV20 footage actually is.

I guess by default, Vegas sets up the preview window for Preview Auto. Well, it's easy enough to understand and see that Preview is better than Draft, and Best being the best. So I had switched to Best Auto and was still disappointed with what I was seeing in my LCD monitor.

That was until I selected:

Best Full
Simulate Device Aspect Ratio
Scale Video to Fit Preview Window

Wow!!! I can actually see just how good the HDV is now, and being able to match aspect ratio while scaling the preview window allows me to also determine other video sizes in case I want to resize everything for QT or WMV video export.
