video previewer dark w/ gray band behind track

As per usual when the video monitor goes black, I touched something and it went black. I can see the video frames on the video track (faces, trees, etc.), but the monitor box at the upper right is black with a grey band behind the video track I've never seen before. I checked the default layout & the video mute button, but neither of those fixed the issue....................please help, as I'm on a deadline........................thanx..............Howard @ EyeVideoStudios.

Try saving the project and then opening it again.

Hmmmm, on second thought, since you mention the dark grey behind the track, that would indicate it's muted. There are two ways to mute a track. In addition to the mute button on the track you can also solo (the ! button) a different track. Make sure none of the other tracks are soloed.
