Video Quality

This may not be the right place to ask this, and , I'm guessing that there is no cheap and/or easy fix. Either way, here goes. I am making a movie shot with two different cameras. At the time of filming, the settings were wrong on camera A. The problem that I am running into is that when scenes switch from camera A to camera B, the difference in quality is quite apparent. Right-click properties shows that everything shot with camera B is 720 x 480(or some such) while camera A is 320 x 240. Is it possible to fix the Camera A files? I tried using Nero re-code, bump up the settings but it shows little improvement. Is this simply a "garbage in - garbage out" kind of deal? If so, anyone willing to send me on another ski trip in order to get better quality video?? :)

Thanks,
Poke

720x480 = 345,600 pixels
320x240 = 76,800 pixels

Less than 1/4 the resolution. The only way you could make them look the same is to downsample the higher res video down to 320x240.

What make and model are the two camcorders?

Also, how did you capture/transfer the video to computer? Was the transfer done by the same person?

It might be the lower resolution was just a capturing/transfer issue (then again, it might have been recorded that way, in which case it is what it is...)

I was afraid of that.....hate to sacrifice the quality of the good stuff simply to match the not so good......

GW, video was done on two seperate cameras....an '05 Kodak Easy Share and an '07 Nikon Coolpix. Oddly enough, the older Easy Share video is stellar. I downloaded data from both...simply using SD cards. Will try to download again, willing to try anything at this point.

Thanks!!

ok, since that was the recorded resolution, you have to work with what you got.

I would consider making a DVD with Half D1 (or CIF) resolution (lower resolution settings that are closer to your 320x240 vids)
