Ever wanted to get better sound into your consumer camcorder? Wish you had XLR inputs? Need more than just 2 channels? You can solve these problems with the PSC DV Promix. Neo-Fight.tv takes a look from a beginner's POV...

Benjamin, I really enjoy your show!

A couple questions:
1) What mic setup do you guys use on your show? Countryman?
2) What is that white dot that always appears behind your head on the backdrop? :)

Howdy...

Thanks for the kind words.

The mics are Audio-Technica mics, very similar to the countryman, but a little cheaper, and I like the sensitivity of them.

The white dot is a white dot. I think it's a piece of 'fluff' on the backdrop that we missed while shooting. It'll be there for a few more shows, but then dissappear. Darn HD video!!!! :-)

Best,

Benjamin

Ben, fun interview...

Just a note..I own a Promix 3 field mixer, and love it.
You can't beat a good field mixer, especially when you are a videographer (with a background in audio recording) who is particular about sound production as well.
I agree about the light weight and fairly good battery run time. But you failed to mention anything about the quiet pre amps and limiters that allow you to pump up your input levels (to avoid the low sound floor hiss) and have the unit knock down the loud audio levels to avoid distorting, or the camera return monitoring feature that lets you monitor your camera, to make sure it's getting audio with a flip of a switch.

The real reason for this mixer, is to record quality audio in the field from multiple mic or line in sources (aka sound board, not really IPod).

Either way it was an amusing review and I got a chuckle out of it, especially Tiffany's deer in the headlights looks about anything technical.
I guess she viewed it as a handbag and not a piece of equiptment. Somehow I don't see her out in the field with a headset, a boom mic, and wireless equiptment. =)

Yeah, I'm a daily neo-fight/neophyte now that you changed your show to every day. Keep it up! :)

Do you have a model number for the mic? Looks and sounds great... and I definitely have a use for something like that.

Edit... never mind... I think I found it.
