Suggest you upload a short original 3GP clip somewhere so we can look at it.

May be a simple solution, or it might require conversion.

Also post back your version of Vegas, and your Quicktime version.

In the meantime, please do not download any codec "packs," regardless of what you may read on the internet. They can hose your Vegas installation.

i recorded a short vid with my dx, copied the file to hard drive w/usb in windows media sync mode, and then imported to vegas 10a. no problem, audio is there. same with v9e.

if you're actually running v8 on xp, might be incentive to upgrade to win7/v10?

Thank you for the replies.

I am using Vegas 8.0c (Build 260) which I believe is the latest version (for version 8).

In regards to Quicktime, I am using 7.6.5. If I am not mistaken the Droid X file was using WMP.

I am using Windows 7 - 64 bit operating system.

Do I really need to puchase the upgrade for this?

I do not use Pro 8 much and I use it for basic tasks.

I did confirm that there is sound when played in WMP.

TIA.

Vegas Pro needs Quicktime version 7.6.2 or earlier in order to work correctly with many audio files.

It may not be the whole solution for you, but I would consider it a prerequisite.

Care to upload a clip?

OK, let me update QT and see if that works.

No, don't update, roll back to 7.6.2 or earlier.

I got your reply after I updated. You are correct. I updated and then downloaded the Droid X file into Vegas Pro and the sound appeared but the video frames went black. Not my week when it comes to Vegas Pro.
