Okay, I answered my own questions. HOWEVER...

In Argentina, the video standard is PAL-N. What is the "N" for?

VideoCurmudgeon,
I looked at those sites to see what Argentina uses, but I couldn't figure out how to change what Vegas renders to get the different formats. I only see how to change the quality, not format within the PAL spec. I would love to know. I have been wanting to send a DVD to an old friend in Argentina for a while. I served my mission there. Could you give me a heads up on how to render for Argentina?
thanks,

I live in Argentina. (sorry for the english)

The TV broadcast is PAL-N (and same the TV sets and VTR)

The editing houses works in PAL-B (no professional equipment in PAL-N).

The broadcasters works in PAL-B then trasco to PAL-N for transmission.

But, the DVD box sets are for the most part NTSC and PAL-B. Then the DVD PAL seems black&white in the PAL-N TV set.

The home TV sets are for the most part bi-norm (PAL-N/NTSC). Then the DVD NTSC works fine in TV.

HTH
