Video Takes up whole screen

I have a .mov file a client created resolution 800X560.
It plays fine on my 17inch monitor.
If convert to DVD NTSC at 720x 480, the video becomes to large cropping out the menu bars and edges.

I want to have the whole video show but not take up the screen.
What's the best way to go about this in Vegas Video ?

change your preview setting from "full" IE - good full preview full etc... to "auto"

it will then size it down for you - or should at least.

I'm guessing you mean that the menu bars are cut off when watching the video on a TV, correct? If so, you're encountering the overscan that most TVs have, which can cut off up to 10% or so of the outside of the image. Computer monitors show the entire frame without cutting anything off.

If this is the case, the easiest thing to do is to open up Pan/Crop on that event and drag the dashed rectangle out larger. This will shrink the video and leave black space around it. You'll see the black area on your computer monitor, but if you shrink it the right abount you'll be able to see the whole image on the TV. Please note however that TVs have different amounts of overscan, so getting it right on your TV doesn't guarantee it will be perfect on any others.

Sorry Guys for not being more specific..... Chienworks I think you hit it on the spot... (no pun to Spot).

The video was orginaly created in camtasia... It's a video demonstrating a software application ... after rendering to DVD NTSC , burning and playing back dvd on tv thats what occurs.

Thanks Chienworks...I'll give your suggestion t a try
