Video through Type

Hello
I am new to Vegas so be a little patient. I need you help in achieving something for my friend and here it is. I typed the word "40" in illustrator and saved it as an eps, I have two videos, one that would be a background and the other video would be coming through the "40". The problem here is that I don't know how to get the video through the "40", can you help me? I am doing it for her 40th birthday and it's a menu for a DVD we are putting together for her.

Place the "40" image on track 1. Place the two videos on tracks 2 and 3. Composite tracks 1 and 2 together by clicking the downward facing arrow in track 2's header. Set the compositing mode to "Mask" by clicking the greenish icon in track one with the alpha symbol and changing it to "Multiply (Mask). You will now see track 2 showing through wherever the "40" image is white and track 3 showing through wherever the "40" image is black.
