Video Thumbnails

I am running Vegas Pro 8 in Windows Vista 64. I am using both MTS and M2T video files. In both Windows Explorer and Vegas Import Media Files, the thumbnails for both these file types does not show a representative picture. The MTS files show a vegas icon and the M2T file thumbnail is empty. Is this normal and is there any way to have these thumbnails show a picture associated with the video file?

The good news: It can be done..
The bad news: Is not always easy.

Check this thread: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=627779

Or this page: http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=8425 or try to google something like "vista thumbnails mts m2t"

I have made it work on my XP - took a couple of days with whining and cursing... and when m2t worked my mp4 thumbnails had disappeared...
