video tracks have a Brightness and Contrast glitch

one day im working on a church video and the brightness and contrast of the video is perfect. then the next day i open Vegas Pro 8, all video tracks have a Brightness and Contrast glitch. there seems to be 2 bright circles on either side of the video, and no matter how much i adjust the Brightness and Contrast manually, it's still there. i need this fixed by tomorrow night (march 13).
please help!

I can't tell if you're saying that you added Brightness & Contrast to your track (or event?). But in either case, B & C is not the best way to... control brightness and contrast. I was told this early on in my membership here: replace it with Color Curves - it's far more versatile. I've never looked back.

So my suggestion is: First remove the B & C (if used) and see if your video goes back to normal. Then add Color Curves if you wish to fine tune the clip more.

there aren't any effects added to the regular track/event. it's as if there is a lens flare on the entire timeline, and no matter which effects you use to try to fix it, it only changes the look of the event but not the "flare" itself.

Two things for you to try.
#1. Make sure there are no FX applied on the Video Output (above the Preview window) or on the event itself while it was in the Project Media tab.
#2. Make sure the Split Screen View (also above the Preview window) is not enabled.
If neither of these turn out to be the cure, a screen shot would help a lot.

this is the normal picture: http://www.filefactory.com/file/b0a1cf3/n/text_scne.jpg

and this is the image i get in the timeline: http://www.filefactory.com/file/b0a1ceg/n/Image1.jpg

My guess is that it's a Glow or Light Ray FX.
Did you try step 1 & 2 in my previous post as those are methods of inadvertently applying FX that have tripped up even experienced users on occasion?

We understand you are under pressure to have this completed. However, be aware of your perceived tone. We are trying to be helpful and sometimes the obvious things are overlooked when issues occur like this.

In addition to what has been said above, you may want to ensure you do not have a glow effect applied to the text itself.

Maybe you have the wrong Project Settings for the footage you shot.

Could this be a transparency problem - looks kind of faded to me.

make a new project & put the clip in there. If it looks as it should, you have something wrong in your main project.

Sorry you are having problems. I know you say there are no effects, but I am able to almost exactly duplicate the effect in your second image by adding the GLOW effect to your first image.

Effects can be added on the timeline and on the MASTER video.

Sorry I can't help more but as I said, it sure looks like the GLOW effect.
