VideoFactory 2 available- note from SonicEPM

VideoFactory 2 is now available for purchase from our website. Yes, this is the Vegas Forum, but I thought you all should know about this upgrade to our consumer video product. The reason? We are full speed ahead on development of Vegas3, and many/most of the enhancements we made to VideoFactory2 will be showing up in Vegas3 later this year(plus many more high-end features as you'd expect- VF2 is just a taste).

If you download the demo (or purchase a copy) of VF2, you, the Vegas user, will automatically get updated file format plug-ins whether or not you purchase VideoFactory.

You'll also get (again, free even with the demo) an updated version of our Video Capture tool (installed in the VF2 folder). Vegas users can use VidCap 2.5 as their capture/print tool and get DV scene detection, video thumbnails, and in conjunction with the new avi plug-in, you will be able to render DV avi files lager than the FAT32 limit and print those to tape in sequence- no more 4gig avi limit! Print that long DV project no matter what your OS!

Get VideoFactory2 here:(http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/NewShowProduct.asp?PID=490).

Cool new VideoFactory2 features include:

User Interface Enhancements

Improved a/v grouping

New video transitions and filters

Improved text animation and scrolling credits

VideoCD and Data CD burning

29 Interactive "Show Me" tutorials

New "Make Movie" and "New Project" Video Wizards

Send video as e-mail

very nice work...especially on the interface. one problem in the demo when you go to make movie (say Video CD) it gives you the warning about demo status but then there's no way to dismiss the dialog (cancel button doesn't do anything)

I look forward to Vegas 3

Very nice app. One thing I love about SF products...if you know how to get around in one app, you know how to get around them all....very intuitive. Nice filters, too!

Howdy,

If I install, then deinstall the demo, will the new shared plug-ins remain or will they be removed?

I am pretty sure if you remove the demo that the files won't be there anymore. But it's cool that we got all those freebies. Freebies are quite rare now a days!

YAY for Sonic Foundry!! Finally, I have a program that has the OLD FILM EFFECT!!! And I'm not talking about those crappy ones that other programs have, which is basically sepia tone and a slow shutter speed. You finally made one with the correct color and speed, PLUS the scratches on the film. WAY TO GO!!!! I'm really happy about this. I have no idea how I'm going to use it but I'm thrilled nonetheless. I can't wait for Vegas 3!!!!!!

I installed the Video Factory demo, but there's no film effects plugin :( Maybe it doesn't work on Windows 2000?

I'm really curious to find out what additional compositing features Vegas Video 3 will have. I've been planning on buying a copy of DFX+ (Cheap modular version of Digital Fusion) for quite some time now, but now I'm not sure whether or not I'd be better off waiting for Vegas Video 3. I'm mostly interested in DFX+ for it's image stablizer and other tracking features which are available in one of it's modules. Also in that module, there's auto gain. I'm really hoping SF include the ability for VV3 to load TGA image sequences with alphas aswell.

Viscosity could do with an upgrade aswell. A wire removal tool would be great.

I'm on Win2K and have the film effects. They *are* cool.

I'm with you on the sequencial TGA's. I could have sold so many more copies of Vegas for SF if it had that. It's so disapointing... I work with a lot of 3d animation and Vegas seemed like the perfect way to put a lot of cool stuff together quickly without using AfterFX. (Using afterFX can be a chore sometimes) Please... include support for sequential images with alpha channels just like AfterFX. I can't emphasize enough how important that feature is and how much more markets Vegas can penetrate with it.

Oh yeah... the bonuses from Video Factory Demo are very cool. It's nice to see these things all working together. Film effects is fun! Thank goodness for the Text Generator update... but still no support for PS fonts!!! Ugh... all my fonts are PostScript (Adobe Type Manager). I suspect a lot of people who work with pro graphics studios are in the same situation.

Here's to Vegas 3! May all our dreams be realized...

Yeah, exactly. Vegas could really do some damage to the After FX market. I've used it in the past, but don't like it. The timeline automation is too confusing. The Vegas automation is a lot better. Just being able to click on the little slider icon and add the little diamonds to key frame parts. Takes up a lot less screen space for a start, and is easy to open and close. Having audio recording, advanced video editing and compositing all in one package is brilliant. Imagine if they included midi tracks with support for virtual instruments also. That would be the ultimate!
