VideoFX category...

set wrote on 3/8/2015, 11:11 PM
When I see VideoFX tab, what I usually see is alphabet-sorted list of VideoFX.
I wonder if we can make categories based on their functionality, how many categories can be made ?

My list so far :
- Color enhancement and grading (Level, Color Corrector 1st & 2nd, Curve, NewBlueFX ColorFast, NewBlueFX Color Fixer Pro, White Balance, Soft Contrast, etc.)
- Stabilizers (Stabilize, NewBlueFX Stabilizer, ProDad Mercalli, etc.)
- Sharpness & Detail (Sharpen, Unsharp Mask, NewBlueFX Skin Touch Up, Beauty Box, etc.)
- Compositing (Mask Generator, Chroma Keyer, etc.)
- Visual FX (Black and White, Swirl, TV Simulator, NewBlueFX Cartoonr Plus, NewBlueFX Viewfinder, Threshold, Glow, Rolling Waves, etc.)

What do you think ?

It would be nice to have a Favorite button so I could group my "go to" plug-ins all in one bucket.

Great idea. It would speed things along.

Could that be done with a script?

As long as the script can read and list all plugins, and make database from it, I guess that can work.

Well, my primary objective for me is to make a chart "What do you want to do with your footage?" with all plugins I have (Standard Sony's, NewBlueFX TotalFX 3, few Red Giants'), and hopefully we can take advantage of whole tools. I only depends on very few tools, Level, Curve, Color Corrector, that's it :)
Trying to know more about our tools.

Hello everyone, I have completed my category, based on my own personal research for these FX's best primary use.

My list for Vegas Pro 13's own VideoFXs can be seen on the following link:

For the flowchart only, look at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-L9b62_CVdZd1czWEFSMHFJdGs/view?usp=sharing

I open for opinion and inputs.

I know Sound Forge can already do this "out of the box", no additional scripts or plugins necessary. I thought Vegas could too, but i'll check when i get home tonight. In the main Effects window you should be able to create folders and then stuff effects into whichever folder you wish.

I remember when Vegas got rebranded from SonicFoundry to Sony, the next update created a folder of "SONY" effects for me and moved all the legacy effects into that folder. It was easy to drag them back into the main folder or rename/rearrange the folders at will.
