Thanks so much for that. As far as I know no one has posted this.

I've only watched part of the XDCAM panel discussion. It was good to see Lee Herman from SCS there alongside Avid and a few other industry heavyweights. Much of the discussion centred around XDCAM Optical. The one word that kept coming up was "Metadata" and how incredibly useful that has proved, one production company was reported as saying that alone was saving 15 man hours per week. After being told "No one has asked for this" I feel a tad vindicated in jumping up and down about it so much. Even Lee was making much about how well Vegas supports this. Of course, they were talking about XDCAM Optical NOT EX!

This did get me inspired. I opened up Clipbrowser and started entering Clip Names, NG/OK/Keep, Comments and In/Out points. I noticed that unlike XDCAM Optical this data is stored in the XML file not the SMI file even though XDCAM EX still has one. Needless to say Vegas 9 reveals none of this.

Bob.

Good (but sad) point, Bob. Wish all things were equal in these regards.

The one on Blu-ray was interesting. Rob Aubrey of SCS made a couple of "interesting" comments. Gives some insight into Sony's view of Vegas and DVDA.

Going to try to make some time today to watch some of the others. Never know what one might learn!
