hehe... thanks microsoft.

the setting you are looking for is in tools | folder options | view

uncheck 'Hide file extensions' (and fix all the other bs too)

then click 'Like Current Folder' to fix all folders.

I'd like to know who the airhead at Microsoft is that decided we wouldn't want to see the extensions on filenames anymore. Some of these design decisions in the newer versions of Windows just make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Or is this your answer: In your Media Pool, look for the "views" button on the right.

There is another problem of explorer window in VV3.
Every time I see different type of icons for well-known files.
It's happened on two PC with Win2k and WinMe.

Does anyone has such problem?

As you install new software the file associations can change. When the associations change Windows may display different icons for the file types depending on what the new software specifies. Grrrrrrrrr.

Sometimes even just launching a program can cause it to reassociate file types to itself, often without even asking your permission or telling you it's doing it. Double grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Apple's QuickTime player has it right. In the pro version, the default is to ask you if you want to associate all media types with the player. You can ignore the question and it does nothing. You can also specify some types to always associate with QuickTime no matter what any other software says and you can specify some types to never associate with QuickTime even if they are native Apple types. Now we just need a Windows function that lets you nail down associations and never ever allows any software to change them without asking your permission and explaining what the types are.
