Viewing HDV m2t in Preview Pane Jittery

I am just wondering if it is normal to see some jumpiness in the preview pane when viewing a m2t clip? I find if I leave it at preview and half is ok but as soon as I go to good or best at half it really get jumpy. I would have thought my system is ok (q6600/880GT 512. Do you think it might be because it is on a 24".. ram is 4gb. Thanks for your help!

The playback frame rate is shown below the preview pane. If this shows less than full playback rate (25 or 29.97, depending) then you will get unsteady playback. Correct speed in preview half isn't bad and the resolution is adequate. But you must use best full to evaluate image quality. Preview half is quite good enough for looking at the flow.

I have the 6600 and I get smooth playback at "best" with M2T (with no, or simple effects). The frame rate drops a bit on a simple effect but it's still reasonably smooth. Check your settings because there is something wrong if you're not getting full frame rate at "best" at least with no effects.
