viewing .iso files

Is there a way to view the contents of an .iso file? I've found extractors and unpackers and the like, but I am looking for a viewer that will actually play the file just as it would appear on a DVD player. I've got a lot of free time on my hands right now and am trying to get things organized here. I've found some .iso files on my harddrive that I would like to preview to see if it is something I want to delete, burn or just archive. These were made back in the days before I realized the importance of proper file-naming. I guess I should also ask if it makes a difference which program is used to create the .iso file.
Thanks in advance for any help.

An .iso file is a standard package format used by burning applications.
If there is such a utility to view an .iso directly without burning it first to a VIDEO_TS folder, I haven't heard of it.

This is not a player of any sort, but it will accomplish what you're after ...

Install this utility and you can then mount .iso files and have them show up as if they were on a CD/DVD mounted in a drive. You can then explore the folder and play anything within it.

It's kinda like how you can double-click on a .zip file and a new folder window opens up showing you the contents of the .zip, which you can use as if they were unpacked.

Video works nice, but no audio? Is there another plug in required to get audio?

It's up to the format of the file and whatever your player software can handle. Is it possible that the DVD audio is AC3 and whatever software you're playing it with doesn't have an AC3 decoder? That would be really weird, but it would account for the problem.
