I was using Media Player Classic to watch .m2t files. However, after one of the recent imfamous Windows updates, i now get better playback using Windows Media Player. You may want to try uninstalling WMP, then downloading it fresh from Microsoft's site.

I found another player for m2t files called VLC Player.
It works fairly well but seems to not have a working time display.
I have since seen I mentioned in Creative Cow forums as well.

I have found an even better player 'Elecard MPEG player'
It plays a large variety of MPEG file types with a working counter good options and a proper full screen mode unlike Windows Media Player. Even has a trim function.
21 day trial available. Costs $20 to register.
