Vimeo extremely slow today. Is that normal?

I have been doing some video work for a local church and have pretty much sold them on the idea of hosting videos with Vimeo. I am just setting up a test page to show off and the video is so slow that I know I will look like an idiot. I have an embedded video and it takes about a minute before it even starts playing. Is that normal, just today, something that happens regularly, or something that only happens every once in a while?

I see the same thing on my videos today. No, It's not normal and I see other users complaining on their forum.

I post video announcements on Vimeo weekly for my church and have never seen this before.

That's good to hear. Embedded video seems way slower than the same video played back on the Vimeo site. It had me worried. Hopefully it is temporary. There's really nothing else like Vimeo if it was to stop working properly.

As it is right now, you click on a video, nothing happens for about a minute and a half, then it plays for 15 seconds, then it stops to buffer again. Nobody will every actually watch a video like that.

From the Vimeo help forum:

From about one hour ago:

"hi. we've had some trouble with out content delivery system. there's been fixes and things should be improving if it hasn't already. you can track it here: vimeo.com/forums/topic:17664 "
