As I remember I tried a different browser to upload and that seemed to work.

I too was having that problem, until I solved it with dropbox.

You can upload your videos to dropbox, then use Vimeo to connect to dropbox and upload the video. This gave me the best consistency in uploading 30 minutes video weekly.

Once you have the video in dropbox, bringing it over to vimeo is lighting fast (takes less that 5 minutes), but uploading to dropbox takes me about 2 hours for a 30 minute video....and it won't crash like vimeo does if I do it directly.

I left for a few hours and when I came back, the three uploads were still stuck in the same place. I paused and restarted the uploads and that fixed them. They were short 15 second ads so I used a pretty high bitrate. I think maybe Vimeo gets stuck on really high bitrate uploads.
